Therapeutic Journeys for Nova Festival Survivors
Enabling the survivors of the Nova Music Festival to heal
On October 7th, 2023, hundreds of young people celebrating peace were mass murdered, raped, tortured, and kidnapped. Those who survived the worst atrocity in Israeli history have been changed forever. Many are now suffering from acute trauma, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and more.
At Path2Tomorrow, we combine our expertise in nature education, psychology, and Docutherapy to help begin the healing process. Hundreds of individuals survived the festival, and we aim to serve as many of them as possible.
We will bring young survivors on two-week nature adventures where we will create a safe environment for trauma processing and personal growth. Psychologists and therapists will facilitate treatments that build confidence, resilience, and community.
The journey will be documented in a film by renowned, award-winning Israeli filmmakers Yonatan Nir and Dani Menken, the creators of Docutherapy. Docutherapy facilitates recovery by partnering with survivors during every step of the process, from shooting to editing. It allows them to retell their stories of trauma in new forms, share their experiences with new audiences, and inspire others to transform.
Healing journeys will take place in the United States. Nova survivors will have the opportunity to share their stories with Americans in the Jewish community. By partnering with American Jewish organizations, we will help strengthen the bond between Israelis and the diaspora. It’s more crucial today than ever.
The brave survivors will return to Israel with new skills and strategies to thrive—and form part of Israel’s effort to rebuild and flourish. Each journey will be facilitated by the trauma psychology experts at the Bishvil organization, as well as Yonatan Nir Films and Hey Jude Productions.
